The Žnjan Plateau is set to become a true oasis of greenery following its renovation, providing a welcoming space for both citizens and visitors. This transformation will introduce a variety of public facilities, all available free of charge, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the new amenities.
Despite the current bustle of machinery and workers at the Žnjan Plateau, the vision for its future is becoming clearer. Once construction is complete, this largest construction site in Split will be transformed into a lush oasis of greenery, equipped with a variety of public facilities that will be accessible and free for all citizens and visitors. A new video animation released by Žnjan d.o.o., the project holder, provides a glimpse into what the revitalized Žnjan Plateau will look like. The animation showcases the planned features and amenities, highlighting: Vibrant Green Spaces: Extensive areas of landscaped greenery, including a mix of mature trees, native shrubs, and perennials, creating a verdant environment. Public Facilities: Various amenities such as scenic promenades, bicycle paths, playgrounds for children, sports facilities, and beautifully designed beaches. Cultural Venues: An amphitheater designed for cultural and musical events, fostering community engagement and entertainment. Work on the project has progressed steadily, with less than three months into the renovation, and is on track with the planned schedule. The completed Žnjan Plateau will offer a refreshing and dynamic space for relaxation, recreation, and cultural experiences.
The works on Žnjan are in full swing and we can't wait for the first glimpses of the future most beautiful beach in the Mediterranean. Thanks to the citizens for their patience, because this is the largest, but not the only, construction site in Split. After the completion of the reconstruction of Žnjan, the city's largest project, as well as a number of others that are underway, we will all enjoy our city even more. The landscaped Žnjan plateau will be much more than a beach, it will be a unique place with landscaped infrastructure, a green oasis with different contents for all generations, which, apart from our citizens, will add additional value to the tourist offer and family tourism, said the mayor of Split, Ivica Puljak.
The Žnjan company said that the earthworks are nearing completion, the entire excavation for the garage has been made, and the replacement of materials is now in progress in order to strengthen the bearing capacity of the foundation soil on the entire surface. In addition, excavation work is underway on the plateau for the strip foundations of the amphitheater, which will be used for numerous cultural and musical events. Concreting has already begun on the future canopy for solar panels, and in the next week or two, the same is expected at the garage location.
We are currently in the phase of strengthening the soil, which is the most sensitive phase of construction, and due to the poor bearing capacity of the terrain in this area, it is very important to do it properly, but we were ready for it and we counted on it when creating the project. There is no room for error and that is why we have involved some of the best experts in the field in the entire process. The construction of a two-story garage is also the most demanding part of the entire project, but despite some challenges, all work is proceeding as planned so far. In the next week or two, we expect to enter a new phase and start concreting the foundation of the garage. The citizens have gotten used to the works, and I thank the neighboring tenants once again for their patience, said Zoran Jakelić, project manager from the Žnjan company.
We also mentioned that preparations are underway for the arrangement of the beach for people with disabilities, which will be cleaned and the fence will be repaired, in preparation for the new season, since the beach for the disabled is open for the entire duration of the works.
As a reminder, the contractor for one of the largest projects in the city of Split in the last 45 years is the company Lavčević from Split. After the completion of all projects that are taking place in parallel, Žnjan will become the second largest green oasis in Split with about 40,000 m2 of greenery. In addition to the greenery that will ennoble this so far neglected area, Žnjan will also have its place in numerous public amenities such as a promenade, bicycle paths, landscaped beaches with diving board, children’s and sports playgrounds, an amphitheater, catering and tourist facilities and various accompanying facilities for citizens and visitors. . The inhabitants of Split and all visitors will thus get a completely arranged space, a place for rest, recreation and creating new memories, they will get a beach that will be next to the best European beaches.
